Meet Dr. Amy Dover

Background
Dr. Amy J. Dover is originally from Virginia Beach, where she graduated as valedictorian from First Colonial High School. She graudated Summa Cum Laude in three years with a major in Biology and and Minor in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997, where she held a full James M. Johnston Scholarship. Dr. Dover earned her dental degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with distinction and also received numerous awards for her academic, leadership, and research accomplishments. She remained at UNC-Chapel Hill for her orthodontic education as an Andrew McArthur Brooks Fellow and received both a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Masters Degree from one of the most well respected and prestigious orthodontic programs in the world. Her research on surgical orthodontic treatment, where she collaborated with Dr. William J. Proffit ("the Father of Modern Orthodontics") was published in the esteemed scientific journal, The Angle Orthodontist, in 2007.

Fun Stuff
Dr. Dover and her husband, Stan, live in Belmont, and have three sons, Asher and James (twins), and Rex. When she isn't creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Dover enjoys cooking, traveling, exercising, and spending time with her friends and family. She volunteers at her church and the Gaston County Meals on Wheels program. Dr. Dover is an avid sports fan, and can often be found watching her boys play tennis or cheering on the Tar Heels.
